Garmin Devices
One of the most powerful features of the hDrop Gen 2 is its ability to display real-time hydration data right on your Garmin watch or cycling computer. This lets you track sweat loss, sodium loss, and hydration score seamlessly during training and racing without reaching for your phone.
Here’s the complete step-by-step guide to get set up.
1. Install the hDrop Scores Datafield
- Open the Connect IQ Store on your phone.
- Search for “hDrop Scores” and download it.
2. Configure the Datafield in Connect IQ
- Open the Connect IQ app and navigate to your installed datafields.
- Select hDrop Scores → Settings.
- In the settings menu, you can:
- Set your baseline: This is automatically generated after completing three intense workouts with the hDrop app. You’ll find it inside the app, right above the Sweat Zones graph.
- Device name: Leave this as it is unless you own more than one hDrop. If you have multiple devices, type the serial name of the unit you want to pair, formatted as HDROP-XXXXXXXX. The serial number is found in the hDrop App under Menu → My Device.
- Select displayed metrics: Choose which fields you want to see on your Garmin screen: Sweat Loss, Sodium Loss, and/or hDrop Score.
- Choose your units: Metric (ml, mg) or imperial (oz, mg).
- Press Save to confirm.
3. Sync with Your Garmin Device
- Sync your Garmin watch or cycling computer with your phone so the datafield settings transfer over.
4. Add hDrop Scores to a Data Screen
- On your Garmin device, go to:
Settings → Data Screens → Select Screen → Edit Data Fields - Choose a field slot where you want the data to appear.
- Select Connect IQ → hDrop Scores (for some Garmin devices, you will have to select “Custom Datafield“).
- Now your Garmin is ready to display hydration metrics during workouts.
5. Connect hDrop During a Workout
- Open the hDrop App on your phone and start an activity from the hDrop App.
- Tap the settings icon (top right corner in the in-activity screen).
- Select “Connect with External Device.”
- This disconnects your hDrop from the phone and links it directly to your Garmin device.
6. Finish and Upload Data
- When your session ends, first finish the workout on your Garmin device.
- Then reconnect to the hDrop App to finalize the session and upload detailed insights (hydration score breakdown, sweat zones, sodium analysis).
With this integration, your Garmin watch or bike computer becomes a real-time sweat loss tracker. You’ll see sweat losses, sodium balance, and your hDrop Score in real time, helping you make smarter hydration choices mid-workout. Afterward, all your detailed data is stored in the hDrop App for long-term tracking and insights.
